There’s a struggle that seemingly rages inside of my body day in and day out. A struggle that is weighing on my nerves and all my well-being. One that’s overwhelming… but in the end necessary.
This battle is over right and wrong and good and evil. It’s a battle between making the right decisions or the wrong decisions.
This is a battle we all struggle with on a daily basis. These struggles might be little struggles or huge struggles. For most of us the struggles of right and wrong come down to simple little details in our lives. For others, the struggle between right and wrong are huge. But in the end, we are all struggling everyday with this battle.
So, how do we take that struggle and embrace it and improve our lives utilizing it. Well, I believe the first step is recognizing that it actually exists. Recognize that there’s actually a battle going on inside of your body every single day about making the right decisions and the wrong decisions. On one side you have God and a good conscience. On the other side you have Satan and the need and want for material self-loathing things, and a desire to fit in.
So, if we can recognize the fact that the struggles exist we can make conscious decisions that truly reflect the direction we are trying to lead our lives. For example, it’s easy to give in to the simple pressure in life, like grabbing that Brownie when you really should be grabbing an apple. So, if you realize that there is a struggle consistently going on between what you should do what you should not do, you can make a conscious effort to actually win the battle between good and evil.
You see it’s easy to lose sight of our goals and give into shortsighted distractions like eating a brownie. That’s the exact thing the devil wants from us. He wants us to give into little things and chip away at our confidence and weaken our resolve. We normally do not self-destruct because of a single simple decision. It is the cultivation of many bad simple decisions that ultimately leads to our own self-destruction.
The same holds true with moving forward in our lives as well. If we can make consistent good decisions we ultimately move closer and closer to our goals, objectives, and ultimately God. If we consistently wake up in the morning and read from our Bibles we’re going to get closer to God. If we consistently wake up in the morning and exercise and eat right we are going to lose weight and become healthier. If we consistently get up in the morning and perform at our highest levels at our job we are going to move forward in our careers.
So, ultimately the decision is ours. We can decide to do the right thing and move closer to our goals and ultimately God. Or we can decide to do the wrong things and move further away. We can decide to improve our lives or we can decide to sulk and give up in life. The decision is ultimately ours. It does not Matter how hard it seems, or how bad it you believe your circumstances are. You can make a difference in the direction you’re life is going. Granted, it is easier with the help of God but you need to get up off of your rear end and start walking towards a better life in order for it to happen.
