When I woke up to day it was just like any other day. My son was running around I like a mad man, my wife was trying to get him ready for school, and the dog was barking to go out. It was a typical morning to say the least. But for some reason I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I mean I was just spitting mad, and for no apparent reason.
Well, whenever I get upset the whole mood of the house changes. So, that morning quickly went from typical to miserable! There was no need for it, but I was like a wrecking ball of negativity. Nothing was right and nothing was going to make me smile.
Because of my foul mood I was moving like malaises which put the family behind. So, Instead of dropping my son off to preschool and then taking my wife to work, we did it the other Way around.
That ended up just making my attitude worse. Here is why… When we got my wife to work my son decides he needs to go potty and cannot wait. So, my wife had to take him inside to go potty which put the day even further behind.
To top things off, when my son gets back in the car he decides to play the Hugs game with my wife. (That is where he wants to keep giving you hugs over and over again.) Well, since my wife was almost Late see was having none of that, which in turn led my son to start crying like someone had just cut his hand off or something.
Well, that was the last straw for me and I yanked ”Woody” the doll out of his hands and started yelling at a 4 year old to stop acting like a baby. How stupid is that?
It is a tradition we practice every morning to pray with Jordan when we drop him off For day care. Well this particular morning Jordan dropped a prayer I will never forget. It went a little something like this…
“Dear God, please help my daddy have a better day. I love him and want to play catch with him when he is happy.”
WOW! That would stop even the meanest of men in their tracks. That simple little prayer by a 4 year old made me remember something that I live by… Your attitude is your choice. You can choose to be mad and miserable, and speed that misery around. Or, you can choose to be happy and productive and spread positivity around, The choice is up to you.
Now, even the best of us slip and let that negativity beast in. That is when you need to realize that you are not perfect and need the help of God. MY son knew instinctively that the only thing that could snap me out of the funk I was in was the love and grace of God.
So, if You find yourself waking up on the wrong side of the bed realize that you choose which side of the bed is the wrong side, and which one is the right side. Then submit to God and come to him in prayer and ask that he helps you through that negativity.
My belief is this… there is no such thing as self-help. But, there is definitely something called personal development. If you want to personally improve your life, you are only going to do that if you have a personal relationship with God.
So next time you want to submit your wants and needs to the universe stop and think… who created the universe? I think it’s clear that there are laws of this universe that we live in. I think it is even clearer who created those laws.

I talk all the time about choices.. throughout our life we have all kinds of choices and it isn’t always easy to make them. Still, they are ours to make!
You have shared a great example about mindset and that is one of the most important choices. It can affect a lot (if not all) of the others.
Thanks and hope you are having a HAPPY day today!! And the rest of the family too
